German antique clock Urgos in Bristol, Gloucestershire for sale

German antique clock Urgos

This was my granmothers before she died 2 years ago and she has had it in her home since the 1940s as my grandfather bought it for her during the Second World War while he was based in Germany at the time. It still works when wound up and chimes a truly beautiful item. But sadly no one in my family wishes to keep it anymore and would like it to go to someone who will love it as my gran parents did. This clock is the largest JUNGHANS URGOS clock there is, in its category. With its height of 16 Inches and weight of more than 4 kg, this is a very impressive piece. This Model is the LARGEST one there is, much larger then the average clock of this type. There are bronze decorations at all corners of the front door. The CUT BRASS clockface is an real work of art, having lots of floral decorations. The carriage comes in bronze too. The dial is made of metal, showing you the time in Roman numbers, pointed out by beautifully shaped, black hands. In between the Roman numbers there are floral decorations. There are 60 partitions on the dial; one for each minute, making this timepiece a very precise instrument. This German Urgos clock is in an absolute beautiful condition! Special too, is of course its Chime. The Westminster chime is played on relative 5(!) large bars with 5(!) heavy hammers, which makes the sound totally different than similar clocks featuring a Westminster chime. The chime will let you know each 15 minutes what time it is.On a quarter of an hour it plays a quarter of the Westminster chime On half hours it plays half the Westminter chime,On 3 quarters of an hour it plays 3 quarters of the Westminster chime and on full hours,It plays the complete Westminster chime being followed by striking the full hours, corresponding with the time at that moment. The sound of the chime is very warm! The front door has real, THICK glass in it! On top you find a LARGE bronze carriage handle.Just take a look at the richly used, bronze details on the photos. There is also the number which is the serial number. The country of manufactory is there too "Made in Germany". Finally, there is written that the movement has 2 jewels, making it a clock, having a very silent ticking. This clock comes with a matching key. OPEN TO SENSIBLE OFFERS
